Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) http://www.bats.org.uk
The website is a mine of information and is the first port of call for information about bats in Great Britain. BCT is the umbrella organisation for the network of local bat group. It has up to date links to all the local bat groups and details of the National Bat Monitoring Programme. BCT also runs a 24 hour helpline (24 hours in summer) to provide expert advice on all aspects of bat conservation. The National Bat Helpline number is 0845 1300 228.

The Wildlife Trusts

The Wildlife Trusts is the largest grouping of charitable organisations in the United Kingdom concerned with the conservation of the whole of the UK's natural world.
Each of the 47 Wildlife Trusts is an independent, autonomous charity with its own trustees, whose primary concern is the conservation of nature within its own geographical area. All of the Trusts work together on national and international issues and matters of common concern through a loose, informal, partnership-like arrangement called The Wildlife Trusts.

Our local trust. Working for the protection and enhancement of Leicestershire and Rutland’s wildlife and wildplaces. Leicestershire and Rutland bat group is part of the LRWT and has some of its meetings at the Wildlife Trust offices headquarters at Brocks Hill Environment Centre, Washbrook Lane, Oadby, Leicestershire, LE2 5JJ. Jenny Harris, the group co-ordinator, is senior conservation officer at the Trust.

Like BCT but international! Based in Austin, Texas. BCI is devoted to conservation, education and research on bats and their ecosystems. The website is well worth a visit and has varied and interesting articles on bats and international bat issues.
